Find your Apple ID and reset your password

To set up and activate your new phone, you’ll need to know your Apple ID email and password. If you’ve forgotten either or both, you can easily find your Apple ID and reset your password from your phone.

First, find your Apple ID:

Go to Settings and tap your name at the top of the screen. Your Apple ID email will appear below your name. Write it down and keep it in a safe place.

Next, reset your password:

Tap Password & Security and then check to see if Two-Factor Authentication is turned on.

If Two-Factor Authentication is on:

  1. Tap Change Password.
  2. Enter a new password in both fields and tap Change.

If Two-Factor Authentication is off:

Tap Change Password, then Forgot Password on the next screen. Choose to reset by email or answer your security questions.

Reset by email:

  1. Tap OK to get the reset email from Apple.
  2. Go to your email app and open the email from Apple.
  3. Tap Reset Now.
  4. Enter a new password in both fields and tap Reset Password at the bottom of the page.
  5. Your password has been reset.

Reset with security questions:

  1. Fill in your birthday.
  2. Answer your security questions (up to three). Remember, they’re case sensitive.
  3. Enter a new password in both fields and tap Next.
  4. Your password has been reset.
